How Much Cashew Do You Actually Need?

Before you drop another 250g pack into the cart "just in case," it helps to know what one pack actually gets you. Four situations come up most often — snacking on your own, baking, feeding a crowd, and stocking up for gifting season — and each one has a fairly simple answer once you do the math once. (Good news: the math below works the same no matter which of our four whole grades you pick. Everyday, Classic, Grand, and Jumbo differ in price and kernel size, not in how many grams add up to a serving.)

Snacking, solo

A standard serving of nuts works out to about 28g — roughly 18 whole cashews, or one small handful that isn't overflowing if you're eyeballing it. At a handful a day, a single 250g pack gives you about nine servings. That's a week and a half if you're disciplined about portions, closer to a week if your handfuls run generous, which — let's be honest — they usually do.

Baking

Recipes that measure in cups rather than grams are assuming a cup of whole cashews weighs somewhere around 140-145g. So if a recipe for cashew cookies or a cake topping calls for 1.5 cups, that's roughly 210g — one 250g pack covers it with a little left over for tasting (quality control, obviously). Ask for 2 cups, and you're using almost the entire pack, so it's worth grabbing a second if you're not confident you'll stop at "just checking."

If the recipe is chopping, grinding, or blending the cashews anyway — batter, a paste for gravies, a smoothie add-in — our pieces packs (Baby at ₹210, 8-Piece at ₹240, both 250g) hit the same gram target for less than the whole-kernel price. The oven, or the blender, genuinely cannot tell the difference.

Feeding a crowd

When cashews go into a shared bowl alongside other snacks at a get-together, a commonly used events-planning benchmark is about 2oz — roughly 55g — per guest. That puts one 250g pack comfortably covering four to five people, as long as it's sharing table space with a couple of other things to nibble on. If it's the only bowl out, or your crowd genuinely loves cashews (understandable), plan for less coverage per pack and pick up a second before the evening starts rather than mid-way through it.

Gifting and festival stocking

For a hamper, most people land somewhere between one and two 250g packs per recipient, depending on how generous the gesture is meant to be — a single pack reads as a nice small gift, two starts to feel like a proper one. Diwali is roughly seven weeks out from today, which makes this a reasonable week to work out headcount for any hampers on your list, rather than the week before dispatch queues fill up.

One practical tip

While you're doing this math, it's worth ordering in clean 250g multiples rather than picking up one odd pack here and another there — it tends to clear the ₹1,499 free-shipping line faster than you'd expect, especially useful if you were going to place two smaller orders anyway.
